Kazu: Tuna and Salmon Bowl

Oh Kazu, it was only a matter of time before I’d be back for more. Today, we stopped by this authentic Izakaya for a late lunch. The cold weather didn’t prove to be an obstacle for us soon-to-be customers waiting in line – I’d brave the worst weather conditions just to have a bite of its amazing cuisine. Wanting to try something new, I went for the Tuna and Salmon Bowl. People have been raving about this dish, and I can wholeheartedly confirm that it’s absolutely delicious.  Skillfully assembled in a large deep-dish bowl, it consists of sushi rice – slightly sticky and a little tart, small chunks of tuna and salmon sashimi – so fresh it melts in your mouth, and a mix of fresh vegetables (varies according to the chef) – julienned carrots, bean sprouts, and stringed cucumber and zucchini. It’s garnished with shredded lettuce and crunchy puffed rice sticks. Rounding up and lifting this wonderful medley is the chef’s tangy and savory dressing, infused with a little heat and nutty sesame seeds. Toss the ingredients, scoop a spoonful and experience pure bliss. Kazu, you never disappoint.

Haha, I actually found this blog looking for reviews of Kazu to share with people. Glad to hear you went back. This place is so amazing, definitely my favourite restaurant in Montreal for sure. I was just there for the fifth or sixth time on Wednesday night.

And yeah, the ingredients in a lot of the dishes seem to vary. One time my tuna and sushi bowl had apples in it. It was pretty good!

If you haven't, try the chicken teriyaki burger. I know it seems like an unusual thing to order there but it is intensely good. Nobody else I was with liked the 48 hour pork. Heathens!

Mmm :) This looks scrumptous! Aside from the zuccini but this picture just makes me want to go there ASAP.
